The Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition returns in 2022, just in time for the SUV's 20th anniversary.

It may be tough to understand today, but the Porsche Cayenne was met with mixed reactions when it was initially introduced in 2002. The ultra-capable Cayenne's skill on and off the road was lauded by most, but longstanding Porschephiles believed it diluted the sports car brand's legacy. The Cayenne, now in its 20th year of production and third generation, has long left its opponents in the dust, storming ahead with solid sales that have helped Porsche keep icons like the 911 plentiful. Porsche is celebrating by giving the Cayenne a revised Platinum Edition trim, which the Stuttgart-based carmaker describes as having "an even more sophisticated design and an excellent value."

What Gives It Its Platinum Status?

While there is no performance improvement with the Platinum Edition, it does have lovely hints of elegance and subtle details that set it apart from the normal Cayenne. Satin Platinum hues may be seen on various trim and exterior elements, including the intakes on the front fascia, the "Porsche" badge on the taillight, and badging, to mention a few. Satin Platinum is also used on the 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels, which are only available on the Platinum Edition variant.

Black sport exhaust pipes and high-gloss black window trim stand out against certain of the Platinum Edition's hues, including the basic white, while blending in with the also-standard-cost black. However, for a little fee, you can purchase select metallic hues like Jet Black, Carrara White, Mahogany, Moonlight Blue, or Chalk—a new Cayenne unique colour.

The inside is normal expensive Cayenne with some Platinum Edition embellishments. The chalk-colored seat belts stand out against the black leather upholstery without being obnoxious or boring.
