Gazoo Racing provides factory heritage parts for the Toyota Corolla AE86

Now is your opportunity to resurrect your mid-'80s Toyota Corolla with original factory replacement components.

Those in the know are already aware of Toyota's fifth-generation Corolla's popularity and adoration. It's a love affair that has lasted for more than 30 years. The fifth-generation Corolla was a hit for Toyota, selling over 3 million units worldwide by the mid-1980s. Today, enthusiasts all over the world continue to maintain and customise the E70 front-engine, rear-wheel-drive variant, but they frequently run into trouble when looking for OEM replacement parts that have long been discontinued—until now.

Keeping the Tradition

Toyota Gazoo Racing's GR Heritage Components programme is now offering OEM replacement parts for both the historic AE86 coupe and liftback variants. A comparable initiative is now in effect for the 2000GT, original Land Cruiser, and A70- and A80-generation Supra cars, as you may recall.

The Levin and Sprinter, both known as "hachi-roku" or "eight-six" in Japan (designation derived from the A engine series; E Corolla platform; 8 for the 5th generation chassis; and 6, the variety within the model run), are by far the most sought after Corollas by enthusiasts worldwide.

The inexpensive, fast people mover quickly became a fan favourite among youthful drivers in the '80s, thanks to its traditional engine arrangement and lightweight chassis, and that spirit carries on to this day. A thriving aftermarket caters to suspension upgrades, dramatic body modifications, and a plethora of engine swap ancillary items. OEM parts, on the other hand, are almost non-existent.

This fresh run of production components, like current model authentic parts, will be accessible through Toyota dealers, albeit Toyota emphasises that they will only be created for a short period. When manufacturing ceases, whatever remains on the parts shelves will be made available until they are depleted, at which point the game is over.

Prepared for Delivery

Aside from in-person purchases, you may discover a list of available components on the Toyota Gazoo Racing website and even place your order online. As of today, the site advertises new disc brakes and steering knuckles for the AE86, with rear driveshafts due next month and additional components to follow.
