Specifications, features and disadvantages of Hyundai Sonata 2022

The new Hyundai Sonata 2022 is not the most exciting car to drive, but it has an attractive and comfortable interior and many features

The 2022 Hyundai Sonata is a good sedan, and its powertrains are a bit underwhelming except for the powerful N Line turbocharged four-cylinder, and the rivals are a lot more fun to drive.

Otherwise, this sedan has few drawbacks. The Sonata also gets good gas mileage and has one of the nicest cabins in the mid-size sedan segment. The seats are spacious and supportive, boot space is good, and the infotainment system is easy to use.

Overall, unless performance is your top priority, you should take a look and study the Sonata. Other than the driving dynamics, Hyundai offers many advantages in all areas and its competitive price makes it a good value in its class.

Hyundai Sonata performance

Sonata engine: three good options

The base Sonata has a 191 horsepower four-cylinder engine. It's a polished engine that never feels lacking in power. The acceleration is better but still not impressive. The other option is a turbocharged 180hp 1.6-liter, and for added oomph, you'll want the N Line model that comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder. 290 hp

All engines come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and N Line models come with an eight-speed dual-clutch. Both transmissions provide smooth shifts and many reviewers say they prefer the continuously variable automatic (CVT) transmission found in many of the competitors. There is also Hyundai Sonata Hybrid which we cover in a separate review

Four-cylinder 2500 cc with 191 horsepower

Four cylinders, 1600 cc, 180 hp

Comparing the Hyundai Sonata 2022 with the competition

Which is better: Hyundai Sonata 2022 or Toyota Camry

Toyota Camry is one of the best options in the mid-size sedans segment. Both Camry and Sonata have great interiors with plenty of room for passengers and many standard safety and entertainment systems. Camry comes with better handling than Sonata, excellent fuel economy ratings, and two powerful engine options including a V6 engine. With 301 horsepower more powerful than any available Hyundai engine, however, the Sonata has a larger tonnage box and a longer warranty

Which is better Hyundai Sonata 2022 or Kia K5 2022

The K5 has a lot in common with the Sonata. First, they both have similar passenger and cargo spaces, and their feature lists are nearly identical. However, the K5 is more fun to drive and offers the option of a powerful turbo engine on par with the Sonata's 1.6-liter four-turbo engine. The K5 also offers an all-wheel drive system. It is not available on the Sonata
